Production update: I'll be honest here, I'm a bit of a neurotic. I'm not embarrassed to admit it because it drives me as a director to shoot, and then shoot some more, and that's not terrible. I want our edit team to have a full palette of colors to work from so that they can paint/edit the best possible moving picture. Don't worry, we won't be beating metaphors like that in the film.
Ok, so where was I? Oh yeah, the neuroses...we have 250 hours of footage and counting! Still, I was worried going into editing that we didn't have enough, that it wouldn't feel intimate, that our audience might not love our characters like we do. The great news is that I'm really pleased watching the 50 odd minutes of rough scenes Adam and Zach have cut to date. What a relief it is to see these come to life. It's going to make fundraising that much easier for me because I now have the kind of confidence we neurotics often lack. We have some genuine moments in our footage that do a great job of representing the relationships we built with our characters and convey the things about them that we love. The plan is to put all these together in a way that sings for our audience. You know, like a singing painting.
